This wonderful literary crime novel joins our other MAN BOOKER PRIZE nominee: THE MANY by Wyl Menmuir which is published by SALT, and is a dark, seductive and mysterious novel.

NIAGARA MOTEL, the new novel from Ashley Little, the winner of the British Columbia Book Prize (the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize), shortlisted for the Vancouver Book Award and longlisted for the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award for ANATOMY OF A GIRL GANG, has just arrived from Arsenal Pulp Press. This heart wrenching and visceral novel introduces readers to eleven-year-old Tucker Malone―the only child of a narcoleptic touring stripper―who believes his father is Sam Malone, the Boston barkeeper who regularly appears on Tucker’s TV screen. He and his mother move from motel to motel until, one night in Niagara Falls, his mother is hit by a car after falling asleep in the street.Tucker is sent to live in a youth group home where he meets Meredith, a pregnant sixteen-year-old with hopes of her own; he convinces her to join him on a road trip across the border to America in order to find his father, which takes them from Boston to the west coast. Along the way they encounter some of the most notorious criminals of the 1990s, and arrive in Los Angeles just as the Rodney King riots are unfolding. His cross-country search becomes an epic depiction of mid-90s America at a crossroads as seen through the eyes of a boy, for whom finding his father is the one thing that will make him whole. This is potent and exciting writing which takes the reader's breath away with its unflinching audacity. It publishes in Canada in November 2016 and the full manuscript is available.
Philip Caveney: the bestselling author of the Sebastian Darke books (Random House) and also the 2016 Scottish Children's Book Awards winner as Danny Weston (Andersen Press) has just delivered a stunning 9-13 Fantasy Adventure novel SLITHER, which is now going out on UK submission. SLITHER is a fast paced fantasy adventure with a 16 y.o. central character Zach, who, after his mother has died, has relocated with his father to Cornwall to live in the house that belonged to his (perhaps mad) late grandfather. Zach finds a faerie stone which brings, it seems, extraordinary luck ... but with a terrible price/consequences. As Zach and his new friend, a local girl called Pepper, test the stone's powers it seems that their fortunes are turning around. But The Slithers, sinister reptilian agents of the Bucca Dhu, want to reclaim the stone. As Zach and Pepper dig further into the magic and unearth the terrible fate that befell Zach's grandparents (once in possession of the stone) it seems the good luck and power is a very poisoned gift and they are accelerating towards an awful fate of their own. On a night of freakish weather, a sign of the Bucca's presence, the book comes to a tumultuous finale. For information, please email: Adrian Weston
SALT: a very exciting announcement for 2016: DEATH AND THE SEASIDE the new novel by Man-Booker Shortlisted Alison Moore, which publishes in the UK in August 2016.
